Escape Velocity
Imagine yourself easily pushing away from a football field size sphere in space and for ever
drifting separate ways...
Imagine yourself pushing away from a city size sphere in space and not ever drifting away
because you simply cannot push hard enough and every time you try you eventually drift back to
the surface of the sphere gently floating around it for days or hours before gravity pulls you
back once again to the surface of the sphere...
Imagine yourself on the same sphere in space and a friend on another similar size sphere within
shouting range asuming a medium exists between you and your friend in which sound can travel so
you can communicate...
Imagine yourself on a much larger sphere in space and a friend on another similar size sphere who
would be within shouting range asuming a medium exists between you and your friend in which sound
could travel if it only could travel fast enough to overcome the attraction force of gravity which
keeps sound from leaving the gravitational influence of the sphere and prevents sound communication
between you and your friend...
Imagine yourself on a sphere in space the size of Earth and a friend on another similar size sphere
within radio frequency range in which you communicate and each agree to build vehicles traveling fast
enough to leave the gravitational attraction of your home worlds and meet at a third world for lunch...
Imagine yourself on a sphere in space so massive that the gravitational attraction on this world is so
strong that you canot exist at all, you panckace into a flat wet spot on the surface faster than a
snowman fallen into a volcano melts...
Imagine a sphere in space so massive with gravitational attraction so strong that radio and light waves
cannot leave its surface because they are not traveling fast enoght to do so...
